Our mind can have a life of its own sometimes.

Learning how to utilize its power and vibrancy is The Artful Way: Contributing to wholeness of life, celebrating its beauty, its magic, its possibilities…

Through active participation in Expressive Arts: visual arts, poetry, drama, movement and sound, we provide opportunities to call our mind to attention, to its full alertness and vibrancy.

We provide opportunities to awaken our wholeness, to restore aliveness and wellness, to bridge and balance through Creative Expression.

The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.
— Henri Bergson

Mind Alert

Through active participation in Expressive Arts, we employ Mindfulness and Meditation exercises; we challenge our perspectives and stretch our imaginations with guided imagery, poetry, journaling, drama activities; with visual arts we use colours and shapes and lines and dimension to provide opportunities to call our mind to attention, to its full alertness and vibrancy.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Meditation is one of the most powerful tools for restoring balance to our mind and body. In meditation, you experience a state of restful awareness in which your body is resting deeply while your mind is awake though quiet. In the silence of awareness, the mind lets go of old patterns of thinking and feeling and learns to heal itself.

Mindfulness is a form of meditation, whenever you bring awareness to what you’re directly experiencing via your senses, or to your state of mind via your thoughts and emotions, you’re being mindful. While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis.

In The Artful Way, we experience Mindfulness & Meditation as space. We put into practice what we know to do naturally but have forgotten.

Guided Imagery & Visualization

Guided imagery and Visualization are gentle but powerful techniques that focus and direct the imagination in proactive, positive ways. It can be just as simple as a dancer's pirouette, imagining how a perfect twirl will feel during the dance routine. Or it can be as complex as imagining the joy you feel as each cell of your body takes action, uniting in its efforts to bring wellness and wholeness within its systems.

Guided imagery techniques involve all of the senses, and almost anyone can do this. It involves the whole body, the emotions and all the senses, and it is precisely this body-based focus that makes for its powerful impact.

In The Artful Way, we experience Guided Imagery as space. We put into practice what we know to do naturally but have forgotten.

Visual Arts Facilitation

Art as a healing modality involves the creation of art in order to increase awareness of self and others. This in turn may promote personal development, increase coping skills, and enhance cognitive function. It is based on human development, psychology and behavioural sciences.

One of the beauties of art as an alternative healing modality is the ability for a person to express his/her feelings through any form of art. Expressive art facilitation as discussed here typically utilizes more traditional forms of art…such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, or a variety of other types of visual art expression.

In The Artful Way, we experience Visual Arts as safe space.  We put into practice what we know to do naturally but have forgotten.

All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
